Dr. Laura Carlton completed her undergraduate education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She majored in Chemistry and French and spent semesters abroad studying religion in Southeast Asia and neocolonialism in Senegal. After working on the Haiti cholera outbreak with the CDC’s Enteric Diseases Laboratory Branch, she continued her education at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where she was awarded the Beatrice Tucker award for women’s health advocacy. She then returned to Atlanta for residency at Emory University.

Dr. Carlton was super nice and relatable. Most importantly she made me feel like she took my concerns seriously and wanted to work with me to come up with the best treatment plan for what I’m needing. Sometimes other OB/GYNs can seem condescending or don’t make you feel like they see you as a person, so I was nervous about meeting her. But she was really wonderful and put me at ease.

Dr. Carlton has been the most intentional gyn provider, I've ever experienced and/or thus far seen in my adulthood. She's attentive, goes beyond to educate her patients, and shows sincere compassion. Her professionalism should be standard in healthcare as she is relatable, empathic and knowledgeable. She's human before anything else, and always treated me as such. She's taught even my young adult daughter the importance of taking care of herself and has relieved the fear of seeing a GYN. We're extremely fortunate to have her as a provider.
