Education

Graduate School: East Carolina University

Undergraduate School: University of North Carolina Wilmington

Angie joined Triangle Physicians for Women in 2018. Angie’s passion for caring for women began while working in an OB/GYN office in Wilmington, NC. This desire to care for women led to her returning to school to obtain her BSN from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Angie began her nursing career at WakeMed Cary on labor and delivery. After eight years she decided to return to school to obtain her MSN in Nurse-Midwifery from East Carolina University.

Angie believes that women are strong and capable of great things. She believes in the process of natural birth and the human body’s ability to achieve it, understanding that there are times when medical interventions are necessary for the health of both the mother and the child. She feels strongly that the birth experience that each woman chooses should be supported. She believes that a family is how each woman defines it. Each of these families need to be made to feel a part of the birth process. To achieve this, Angie uses skillful and therapeutic communication, as well as patient advocacy.

In her free time Angie enjoys reading, watching women’s soccer and lacrosse, and traveling with her family.

Obstetrical (Pregnancy) Ultrasound / Sonogram

I’ve had a great track record with TP4W, but I feel at a disadvantage. I'm not a new patient, but I saw only Dr. Rogers for the past 8 years — so I hadn’t had exposure to the other staff members. They don't know me or my history, and that is challenging given my more recent health history (traumatic diagnosis with T1 diabetes 2 years ago with no family history). Given that, I am no stranger to self-advocacy in the health space. When I was diagnosed, Dr. Rogers was always a reassuring voice and indicated that with my tight control, he didn't consider me high risk, but "high surveillance". I’m very bummed he retired! What I loved: Liz, the ultrasound tech, was fantastic (really great first point of contact). So kind and upbeat. She made me and my husband feel completely comfortable, narrated the entire ultrasound experience so we knew exactly what we were looking at, and commented that because of my T1D, we would get to see baby even more! She was lovely. Elizabeth, the billing specialist, was also fantastic. Super thorough in her explanations and brought humor into what is a very stressful topic for families. Angie Blake was very candid and direct—I do appreciate that. She left ample space for questions. I asked some specific questions about c-section %s and induction protocol for well-controlled T1s tracking normally. I would have liked more warmth from Angie. On a completely unrelated note, my 4 appointments were supposed to take 1.5 hours. We were there for almost 3 HOURS.
