Dr. Arlene Pak joined our practice in August 2017. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and earned her medical degree at the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Pak completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Duke University School of Medicine.

Dr. Pak has a passion for caring for women throughout their lives and finds helping women through their pregnancies and welcoming healthy babies into this world to be most rewarding. She believes in preventative healthcare and empowering women to be active participants in their overall health and wellbeing.

Even though Dr. Pak was born and raised in the paradise state of Hawaii; after relocating to North Carolina for her residency, she fell in love with our great state and decided to make it her forever home along with her husband, 2 children, and the family beagle Rocky.

She had her eyes closed almost the entire time she was speaking to me. She talked a lot, which was fine, but just found it odd that she only looked directly at me with her eyes open once. If her eyes weren’t closed then she was either looking to my left or above my head. Never had a Dr do that before.

OB Care

Dr. Pak’s tone in response to my questions during a routine OB follow up visit was dismissive and annoyed. She didn’t give me a clear answer regarding a certain vaccination and she overall expressed a look of annoyance when addressing any questions I had. This is my third pregnancy so most of the questions I had were legitimate as I’ve experienced the aches and pains of pregnancies before. She spent a total of 9 minutes with me and the entire time I felt she was ready to leave the room before I could finish asking my questions. I’m hoping she had an off day because I’ve seen her before and didn’t feel this way, but she was very rude and I do not care to see her again.

Gynecological Problem Visit

My usual doctor was out of the office the day I needed to be seen so I saw Dr Pak for the first time. I went in for a chronic issue I’ve been dealing with off and on for 20 years. I have a lengthy history in my chart not to mention I know my own body and symptoms. Dr Pak’s beside manner was abrupt and cold. I felt rushed and not taken seriously. She asked me questions that could have been easily answered by just looking at my chart. When I told her how my condition had been treated the last time I was seen, she gave me a weird face and didn’t believe me. That’s the only reason she looked at my chart and once she saw that the treatment I had described was exactly correct, she seemed annoyed. I left feeling not taken seriously and bad. The other doctors I have seen at Centre have been caring, empathetic and truly listen and value the knowledge you have of your own body. I felt like I was talked at and she came across arrogant. I will request a different doctor next time.
