Dr. Holly McArthur was born in Boston, but spent her formative years in England and Saudi Arabia.

Dr. McArthur returned to the United States to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she obtained a B.S. in Biology. She received her medical degree from the University of Florida, and returned to Charlotte, NC for her residency in OB/GYN.

Dr. McArthur entered private practice in Asheville in 1998 and joined Laurel OB/GYN in January of 2005.

Dr. McArthur is the mother of three rambunctious teenage boys that she loves dearly. When she is not practicing medicine, she enjoys running in the Asheville are and traveling.

She and her assistant were very understanding when I let them know why I had not had a visit in 10 years! I like how she talked me thru the exam after not having sexual partner in 10 years. She set me up with names for primary and mamagram folks. Also let me know that since I had co-vid she wanted a chest x-ray. Great visit.

Gynecological Problem Visit

Laurel OBGYN was able to get me in the same day I called with a concern that I really wanted to be checked out soon. I felt like the doctor who saw me (who isn't my typical gyno doctor), took my concern seriously and in turn, prescribed me with medication that would ensure the concern I saw would be nipped in the bud rather than wait and see how it turned out.

I arrived to my appointment about 20 minutes early and before I could sit down in the waiting room I was being called back. I realize that doesn't always happen but I walked out off the building at may appointment time! Everyone is so professional and efficient! The doctor had an emergency in the room next to me. While I understand these things happen she was very distracted and not “present” whatsoever when she entered my room for my office visit. I don’t feel she really heard what I said as she was obviously distressed because of the previous patient. She took notes but neglected to include results from my recent kidney surgery which were important I thought. I had additional complications as in a hemotoma and the cat scan to show that also showed a 5 cm kidney stone that was left behind. Please note my files on this. Also even though my results for my hormones came back “normal” I had to inquire as to the testosterone level and am still concerned about the estrogen level as the nurse said my age was not specified? Confusing and I still am not clear as yo if I am on the right dosage. I would like yo speak to a nurse about my test results to clarify.
