Dr. Laura Carlton completed her undergraduate education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She majored in Chemistry and French and spent semesters abroad studying religion in Southeast Asia and neocolonialism in Senegal. After working on the Haiti cholera outbreak with the CDC’s Enteric Diseases Laboratory Branch, she continued her education at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where she was awarded the Beatrice Tucker award for women’s health advocacy. She then returned to Atlanta for residency at Emory University.

Endometrial Biopsy

Dr. Carlton was kind, informative and got the job done to help confirm that my uterine infection had passed and I think she did a great job. I do have a recommendation to consider (just in general for the practice) for endometrial biopsies since they are inherently painful. When I had one done previously outside of the US, I was required to have my bladder full which made access to the uterus easier because the extended bladder flattened the access so the catheter could more easily pass through, and the individual assistive the Dr. used the ultrasound machine to see the catheter pass into where it needed to go. The position of my uterus is a little try so I think for people who may have inverted uterus' that it could help make the process a little more comfortable.
