Melinda P. Everett is a native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and joined Chapel Hill OB/GYN in 2000. She loves education and studied at UNC Chapel Hill. Her first degree was in biology. Melinda then joined the Peace Corps and worked in the Democratic Republic of the Congo where she specialized in maternal and child health. She set up vaccine clinics and supervised rural health centers. Upon her return, Melinda attended the School of Nursing at UNC as a Johnston’s Scholar, a full-merit scholarship. After graduation, she worked in gynecologic oncology at UNC Hospitals. During this time, she pursued and completed her Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner program at UNC where she also received full funding from the Johnston’s Scholarship.

Melinda has worked at Chapel Hill OB/GYN since 2000. Her past experience with gynecologic oncology patients prepared her for her current practice. Due to her years with cancer patients, she has a special understanding of the importance of symptom management and getting to know her patients as people. Melinda is a member of several groups including the North American Menopause Society, the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, and the International Society for Vulvovaginal Diseases. She has a special interest in female sexual dysfunction and vulvar dermatology. She also specializes in helping people sort out the hormonal influences on migraines.

In 2003, she married her husband, Ben, a computer programmer from Chapel Hill, NC. He was so eager to marry her that he proposed to her over an international call while she was in the Peace Corps. They have two daughters, and Melinda spends her spare time involved in gardening, reading, and playing board games. She calls her favorite activity “a long, strategic, three-to-five-hour geeky board game with large groups of friends.”

Patient Reviews

Overall patient rating for UWH of The Carolinas:

Dr. Sherer takes time to discuss things with me and is very thorough.

Dr. Richardson is nice and warm. She listens to her patients professionally. But the wait time is too long.

The care and intention provided at Highlands is amazing. I feel like they are family.

Annual Well Woman Exam

A quick, efficient experience, and very friendly staff.

Annual Well Woman Exam

Miscommunication

Annual Well Woman Exam

It was pleasant but quick without me feeling rushed.

Obstetrical Appointment (routine)

My waiting time was not very long. Dr Pak is a great doctor who is very knowledgeable and I appreciate how she takes the time to explain things and is super thorough.

Gynecological Ultrasound / Sonogram

I spoke with Brook on the phone, her level of knowledge and genuine concern for me was so comforting. When I hung up the phone, I was completely confident in the care I would receive. Allie brought me back to the room, she, to me, being a nurse of 25 years, was "old school" professional. She was kind and concerned about why I was there. It was clear to me she was patient focused and not job oriented. A super nice lady that compliments the nursing profession well! Natalie, I could have sat and talked with her all day. So nice and so smart. Every concern was addressed! There is no way you would get better care anywhere!!!

Annual Well Woman Exam

Compared to previous breast exams, this exam seemed more like "going through the motions" of a breast exam than thoroughly examining for suspect abnormalities. Since breast cancer is the world's most prevalent cancer, I want my annual physical exam, in addition to my annual mammogram, to render the earliest detection possible.

Post-Partum Appointment

From walking in, to leaving you truly feel cared for! The space is cozy and clean and Jesse is an amazing provider!!

OB Care

Dr. Mody is the best OB in the business and I am so very thankful for her honesty and great care.

Bone Density

Dr. Hunt is thorough, kind, and attentive. She has been my doctor since 2010.

Annual Well Woman Exam

Dr. Motyka is very knowledgeable and thorough. She truly cares about her patients!

Annual Well Woman Exam

So many providers just throw medications at you for whatever symptoms you have without investigating what is causing those symptoms. It is such a rare find to have someone actually care about finding the root cause of the issue! Very grateful for the time taken to actually look into what I'm dealing with.

Annual Well Woman Exam

Dr is amazing. Always takes her time. The office was really far behind but she never rushed me at all!!!

Annual Well Woman Exam

Beth is always great. As a healthcare worker, when you have a set timeframe to keep patients moving it is hard to get lost in all of that, but Beth always makes the visit personal and asks how family/work is, so while it is a quick visit, it does not seem rushed, and time is allowed if there was a concern.

Office Visit / Follow-up

Great doctor

Birth Control Consultation
