Gynecological Exams

Dr. Maydew is amazing and I am very satisfied with her care. However, the reason for my 2 star review are the receptionists and the nurses on call. I have called multiple times to ask questions ahead of my appointment: there is always a very long phone-wait time, then I am told to leave a message with the nurse. Never once has the nurse called me back after these messages. I've tried scheduling an appointment outside of my annual physical and was told "don't waste your money, just wait for your annual appointment." I've used the patient portal to message my doctor and I do get a response there from the nurse, but it was generic "wait to talk about this with your doctor." Which is why I was trying to schedule an appointment, but could not do it. During my last visit, I waited for over an hour to see my doctor, and then again for 20 minutes to schedule a follow-up because there was only 1 receptionist helping a line of people.

I felt like the doctor was rushed and did not have time for me. I had also inquired about lab work prior to my appointment. The nurse had assured me that we could do lab work here. Instead the doctor referred me to my primary care physician for this even though I had been receiving lab work here at this office. Her answer made me feel that since I am in menopause, I no longer should come to Cary Ob Gyn. I have been made to feel this way before. If that is the case, I wish someone would just tell me that I should no longer be a patient here because I am no longer of childbearing age.
