Dr. Taam-Akelman is a native of Ithaca, New York. She attended Cornell University for her undergraduate degree and the Medical University of South Carolina for her medical degree and OB/GYN residency. Prior to joining Lyndhurst she worked as an OBGYN in Greensboro, NC. Dr. Taam-Akelman enjoys providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care for patients of all ages to help them meet their healthcare goals. Her particular interests include: preventative health, contraceptive counseling, preconception planning, obstetric care, vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC), and minimally invasive surgery. She is trained in hysteroscopic, laparoscopic, robotic, and vaginal surgery. In her free time, she enjoys running, yoga, cooking, and spending time with her husband and dog.

Everyone I came in contact with had exceptional customer service. Check-in is always seamless and efficient. I did not have to wait long to be seen. The nurse that checked my vitals was extremely kind. Dr. Rosalea Taam-Akelman exhibited great care. She answered all the questions I had. I expressed apprehension and concern about blood pressure and she said that my current BP was within acceptable range. I thanked her for explaining my current status. I explained that a close friend to a heart attack after having pre-eclampsia. She thanked me for sharing this with her and validated my concerns. I felt seen and heard. That meant A LOT to me as a woman of color. It was nice to have to over explain why I was concerned. That was humanizing and made me feel safe being in care. Finally, I wanted to share that the front office staff is top notch. I have watched them handle some challenges patients with such professionalism. I had to bring my toddler son with me to a previous visit. As I was leaving, it was pouring rain. As I stood at the automatic doors trying to figure out how I was going to get us to the car, a front receptionist came out and said I can watch him while you grab the car. She stood there with him while I pulled up my car. It took like 30 seconds but that was so kind. It meant the world to me because I didn't have to run to the car in the rain with my postpartum body and get my car and child soaked. Every time I walk through those doors I am reminded of that memory. I drive 50 minutes to this practice and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you!!

Obviously nobody loves going in for these types of follow ups, but this is my second time seeing Dr. Taam and I feel like she's been my OBGYN for years. I had to find a new OBGYN after mine left the area, and I think I got really lucky with someone as understanding and personable as Dr. Taam. What is usually a very awkward 5-10 minute exam was pretty simple and easy to get through.
