Salena wants to encourage her patients to be empowered and involved in their healthcare. She wants each patient to know she has really listened to them and desires to be their health advocate.

Salena has three sons and one cat. She loves being outside jogging or sitting on the couch reading. She was born and raised in Asheville. She began her nursing career as an LPN at Asheville Women’s Medical Center in 1999 and is excited to be back now as a Nurse Practitioner.

Everyone downstairs was very kind, patient and knowledgeable - explained the process and steps very clearly. This was my first appointment with Salena and I was very pleased - she is very nice and took the time to answer my many questions. I would have given 5 stars, but my last visit at the lab was not as pleasant. The tech was not as friendly or welcoming - didn’t direct me on what she wanted, just expected me to know what to do… I understand she is busy, but getting blood drawn isn’t my favorite thing - a little friendly attitude and smile would have gone a long way.

I was satisfied with my first time experience with S. Thomas as she asked questions, listened to my responses, and she didn’t rush things. However, I did have to wait 40 minutes in the exam room for my exam and it was not explained as to why I had to wait. I live 35 minutes away, and it took me 30 minutes to get there from my work. Waiting added a significant amount to my overall commute.
