Dr. Rivard is a native of Quebec, Canada. She received her B.S. in Health Sciences from le CEGEP de Trois-Rivieres and her M.D. degree from L’Universite de Sherbrooke. She completed her residency at Le Centre Universitaire de Sante de l’Estrie. Dr Rivard is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Her professional interests include fertility evaluation and treatment, tubal reversals and laparoscopic surgery. She has also developed an expertise in Robotic Surgery. Mother of Alex and Emma, she enjoys running, hiking, cooking and yoga. She is fluent in French and English.

Gynecological Problem Visit

I required specialized assistance with a rare but severe gynecological issue that the ER was unable to fathom nor adequately (they did their best) address and it was not until Dr. Rivard called and spoke with the ER team that my plan of care was modified thus finally relieving me of my severe pain as well as providing clarity of what was actually occurring within my uterus! I was able to be released from the ER after a harrowing 14 hour event that baffled both me and the medical staff at the ER with the appropriate pain management so that I could be seen later in the morning by Dr. Rivard to complete the medical procedure needed to drain the fluid/blood that had pooled into my uterus causing me to experience persistent active labor contractions although I was not pregnant. Dr. Rivard’s compassion, empathy, knowledge of gynecological issues and effective treatment, and her steadfast desire to not only help and provide healing, provided me and my family the relief and security needed regarding my medical condition. Once I knew she had called and addressed the medical team I was finally able to be at ease. Dr. Rivard took her time to speak with me and my husband providing clarity as to what had occurred, the cause, walked me through the entire procedure and successfully drained the blood that surrounded my uterus! She didn’t rush the procedure, did not overlook my feelings nor fatigue, and allowed me the opportunity to ask questions. She saw me, she empathized with me, she heard me, and she was there for me!

I was highly satisfied with the care I received from Dr. Rivard. The nurse that helped me was pleasant and listened well, but didn't introduce herself. Additional feedback I'd like to offer is in regards to the front desk staff. Please know I share this not to get anyone in trouble but because I have a strong lens of "excellent hospitality" from my career so I have a lens for this sort of thing. I also share this simply because I remember I had a similar experience at my appointment last year. Their interaction with me was positive and fine. However, I overheard them complaining to each other. At the time, I and one other patient were the only ones in the waiting room. The two women at the desk were clearly talking badly about someone. I don't think it was a patient, but perhaps a fellow coworker. I tried not to pay attention but it always gets my attention when I hear women speaking poorly about other women. As mentioned, I was reminded I had a similar experience last year. Perhaps I happened to be there on the rare occasions this occurs, but just wanted to point it out as I know this office strives for excellence. Patients may seem to come in relaxed, but it's important to keep in mind there is always a bit of anxiety- even in the best of situations. The waiting room is her first step in and should be as welcoming and relaxing as possible. I just believe that employees (whether a medical office, restaurant, store, wherever) should never complain in front of patients, patrons, etc. Hope this helps!
